While no one appears to know for absolute certainty, the best estimate of the number of languages and dialects spoken in Africa are around 2,000. One group of African languages are known as the Afro-Asiatic language group of languages. The 400 languages under this umbrella is generally heard spoken in North, East, and Southwest Africa. Some examples of these languages include Aramaic, Amharic, Arabic, Hausa, Hebrew, and Tigrinya. Another family of languages heard spoken in Africa is the Khoisan, or language. This happens a language that may be dying out, it is currently spoken in Angola, Botswana, and Namibia. This is the family of fifty different languages that use mainly clicking or tonal sounds to communicate. Finally though certainly not exhaustively the language family that holds the greatest number of languages is the Niger-Congo language family. Under this umbrella of languages one will find almost 4 00 languages that are spoken by over 500 million people. I find it fascinating that there are countless languages for a person in Africa to express the frustration of the desert sand, being insulted by a dinner guest or vowing his or her life to a new spouse. I find myself conflicted when I consider if language is a complete, self-sufficient geographical model of the region of Africa. On the one hand, because there are over 2,000 languages, spoken in Africa, I would say that each language and dialect is a perfect representation of the country, or portion of that country within Africa. If language were my only representation I was evaluating, I could easily define that particular region. On the other hand, because there are over 2,000 languages, spoken in Africa, I would say that each language and dialect creates the perfect storm for confusion for Africa as a whole. I don’t see how I could identify Africa as a continent because the continent cannot unite behind one or two languages. In this scenario, if language were my only representation I was evaluating, I would greatly struggle to define the continent because millions of African citizens would not be representing in my definition. In the film, How to Train Your Dragon, the Vikings are at war, fighting for their institutions and peace from their existential threat, the Dragons. The Vikings are in a society in which the institutions reflect their historical struggles and have shaped them to be close-minded to any peaceful interaction with Dragons. Thus, in How to Train Your Dragon, the institutions that the Vikings had, represented what Rousseau saw as being a society with a self-interest social contract of the majority. This causes estrangement between their civilization and the Dragons. The Vikings eventually form a new social contract, in which the Vikings and Dragons represent Rousseau's general will of equality as rationally as possible given the Dragons are not on the same intellect level. The Vikings formed a society that’s institutions caused a loss in compassion and was focused on self-interest. Institutions being: â€Å"The organizational structure through which political power is exercised† (116). Rousseau believed â€Å"that all of society, not just political society, is corrupt† (58). This moral corruption that exists is caused by the formation of institutions that set the basis for a group identity and beliefs, the Vikings. Group identity is, â€Å"the degree to which members identify with a group† (56). This identity leads to an estrangement among those who are outsiders. The institutions promote the use of collective action: â€Å"A coordinated group activity designed to achieve a common goal that individuals acting on their own could not otherwise attain† (42). This collective action is the Vikings pursue to destroy the Dragon population. The Vikings view the Dragons as â€Å"pest† who steal their food and destroy t heir land (How to Train Your Dragon). So, the i... ...tutions it creates â€Å"makes people focus on their individual desires, robs them of the compassion, and promotes inequality† (58). The estrangement that grew between the Dragons and Vikings is proved to be caused by the formation of the society’s institutions because they destroyed the image of the Dragons, and set the social expectations that one must do to be part of the Viking’s cultural identity. The friendship that grew between Hiccup and Toothless destroyed the beliefs and practices of the Vikings institutions, which believed dragons were only evil and must be destroyed. This destruction of the institutions creditability led to the new social contract between the Dragons and Vikings. This represented what Rousseau believed to be a â€Å"perfect world† of which the general will is the sovereign and is â€Å"a government that rules for everyone at nobody’s expense† (58).

This review will be based on Shakespeare’s tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. This film was directed by the well known director Franco Zeffirelli which starred Oscar nominees Mel Gibson, Glenn Close, Paul Scofield and Alan Bates. The main story of Hamlet was led to a complex relationship with all the characters involved. In the story, it is Hamlet who has the most complicated character in the story. One of these is Hamlet’s relationship with Gertrude which could be seen through different types of perceptions and interpretations. Reflecting on the literature made by Shakespeare, it was narrated that Hamlet intended to kill Claudius for avenge of his father’s death. However in the movie, Hamlet is motivated to kill Claudius due to his love for his mother. Furthermore, the movie utilized these lines, â€Å"You cannot call it love; for at your age the hey day in the blood is tame, it’s humble. † Afterwards, the scene shows that Hamlet and his mother kissed in a very romantic way. Thus, the kiss presented that their relationship is possibly more than just mother and son. In the literary work Shakespeare he is not able to mention such type of relationship between Hamlet and his mother. In other interpretations, the relationship of Gertrude and Hamlet did not surpass a romantic relationship. Therefore, the romantic relationship of Gertrude and Hamlet could be an interpretation of the director. More so, various kinds of movies are not the same as others. There are portions of the literary work which was limited to certain characters and scenes. Hence depending on the director, he is able to contort or develop the story through his own liking. Definitely, this relationship of Hamlet and Gertrude is an important plot of the story which relies on the desire of the director or the producer. Moreover, this version of Hamlet is very controversial it maintains a certain level of immorality due to the romantic relationship of Hamlet and Gertrude. There are many attempts to create a very realistic interpretation of the story. Therefore in this movie the director unveiled the possible sexual and romantic attachment of both characters. Although such relationship is a taboo and immoral for the society, it reveals certain possibilities for the audience to realize that such event could have happened in the mind of Shakespeare.
